Description
The Ulugbek Madrasah (1417) is the oldest surviving madrasah in Central Asia, built by order of the great astronomer Mirzo Ulugbek. Its portal bears the inscription: "The pursuit of knowledge is the duty of every Muslim man and woman." Opposite stands the later Abdulaziz-Khan madrasah.
